One of my favourite times of year is upon us! One of a Kind show season! I’ve been purveying the One of a Kind show for a couple years now and it never gets old. I love just walking through and seeing all of these amazing items for sale by artisans who really care about their craft. I thought I’d show you a bit about the show and also go through some things that I picked up!
First Impressions: Huda Beauty Mercury Retrograde + Swatches
With it being Sephora Sale Season (you still have one day left for the sale! Code is HOLIDAYSAVE, expires Nov 11, 2019), I was going back and forth with the Huda Beauty Mercury Retrograde palette. I haven’t been buying makeup lately, one, because I’m adulting and paying bills and spoiling my cats, and two, there just haven’t been many releases that have excited me. At a time when consumers are getting more conscious of their consumption, it’s surprising that companies have been ramping up production of new releases like no one’s business. I took to Twitter to help me make a decision. It was close, but the Yays triumphed. I dumped some other things in my basket and went for this. I have to say, I’m in love so far.
Review + Demo: Revlon One Step Hair Dryer and Volumizer
I almost never blow dry my hair, I’m gonna be completely honest. One of the reasons why is that my hair gets so extremely frizzy. It’s frizzy on a good day. I was given the opportunity to try the Revlon Salon One Step Hair Dryer and Volumizer. I had very very high hopes. Did it meet my expectations?
Review + GIVEAWAY: Mary Kay Naturally Skincare
I’ve been trying new skincare left, right, and centre lately! I obviously love trying new things, but to get the reviews up take awhile (I usually like to test for at least 3-4 weeks)! Today, I’ll lay out my thoughts on Mary Kay’s newest skincare line, Naturally. The line is free of parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrance, syntehetic dyes and SLS/SLES. I also have a giveaway where you can win the whole line to try out yourself!!
Event Recap: 29 Rooms Toronto Expand Your Reality
“Instagram rooms” as they are called, are more and more common nowadays. With the rise of social media and “influencers” it’s not much of a shock. The real surprising thing is that Refinery 29 has been doing their’s since 2015. So you could say they were ahead of their time. I’ve never been to an event like this, so when I was invited to the grand opening, I couldn’t say no. I want to break down my experience, honest thoughts, and if it’s worth the money you’d be shelling out for this.
Makeup Looks + First Impressions: My Almay Face
So I’m not sure if it’s just me, but Almay has been changing up their look. Early on in my makeup journey, I had a couple of things from Almay, but to tell you the truth, they kind of blend in with all the other drugstore brands. From their recent look and feel, you can tell they are trying to differentiate themselves as ‘cleaner and hypoallergenic’. They’ve always been sort of about this, but with the recent clean beauty trends, they are definitely putting that more front and centre. Today I have a few new-to-me/ newish-to-me products from Almay that I put together into a look. Can’t wait to show you my thoughts!
Out and About: Eco + Amour (and Haul)
Yesterday, I made an exciting trip to Eco + Amour, a zero waste boutique in the east end of Toronto. I found this place after seeing an Instagram post from Lindsey over at Sustainably Savvy about these reusable paper towels. I was so intrigued that I decided to go to the company’s website to see where they were sold. To my surprise and delight, Eco + Amour came up. I live on the east end of the city, and having a zero waste store closer than downtown to me was a huge surprise.
Review: Sephora Collection Hot Line Brush Tip Liquid Liner
I always love to try new liquid brush tip liners. I feel more and more companies are coming out with brush tips compared to felt tips. I never understood the hype. I find felt tips uncomfortable, harder to use and I never get a solid line from them. The Kat Von D Tattoo Liner has been my ride or die for quite some time now, so when the Sephora Collection Hot Line Brush Tip Liquid Liner released, I was so interested in trying it. Do I have a new holy grail?
Makeup Looks: My Fav Natural Lip Combo of the Moment
Hi there! I’ve been noticing that I’ve been wanting to change up my lip game recently, and funny enough, for me that means going more natural. I am not one to shy away from colours or brights, but lately I’ve been feeling something softer lately. There are three products that I’ve been using recently in combination that have been doing it for me, so I thought I would share!
Brand Collections: Kosmea Skincare
I feel like I’ve been trying a lot of skincare lately, but I ain’t mad!! Back in the spring, I was sent some products from a brand I had never heard of, Kosmea. Kosmea is an Australian natural skincare brand that was built on the healing properties of rose hip oil (which is included in the products I was sent to try). I cant wait to show you my thoughts on four products from the line!
