Review + GIVEAWAY: Mary Kay Naturally Skincare

I’ve been trying new skincare left, right, and centre lately! I obviously love trying new things, but to get the reviews up take awhile (I usually like to test for at least 3-4 weeks)! Today, I’ll lay out my thoughts on Mary Kay’s newest skincare line, Naturally. The line is free of parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrance, syntehetic dyes and SLS/SLES. I also have a giveaway where you can win the whole line to try out yourself!!

The line consists of four products:

  • Purifying Cleanser
  • Exfoliating Powder
  • Nourishing Oil
  • Moisturizing Stick

Mary Kay already has quite a few skincare lines, but this is their foray into the ‘natural’ skincare ring. Natural is such a subjective term, but Mary Kay actually got the line third party certified with the COSMOS standard (specifically the COSMOS Natural certification) through Ecocert. This actually requires evaluation of everything from the sourcing of the ingredients, manufacturing, and packaging (minimized and environmentally friendly).

Purifying Cleanser

In general, the Purifying Cleanser ($29) is a very solid cleanser. It’s a pretty thick, milky consistency. It doesn’t foam or froth much, but with more and more companies removing sulfates (what creates that foaming), It doesn’t bother me much. When using this, my face definitely feels moisturized and fresh. This isn’t a great cleanser to remove heavy makeup, it’s definitely best used in the morning I’d say, which is when I usually use this one.

Exfoliating Powder

This is definitely an interesting product to use, but I haven’t been able to easily integrate the Exfoliating Powder ($39) into my routine. The container has a powder which when water is added, creates an exfoliator wash. I find this hard to use just because I always tend to use an imperfect amount of water to powder. I’m sure that’s definitely a plus for some so they can dilute to change the exfoliator power, but I personally would prefer to use an exfoliator where I know exactly how it will work each time.

Nourishing Oil

This is the star product for me in the collection. The Nourishing Oil ($55) is a blend of sesame, almond, and olive oil that soaks into the skin so well. I find that most facial oils I’ve been using usually sit on the skin and as moisturizing as they are, it’s more of a spa feel or at night versus everyday. This one really soaks so nicely but it still super nourishing. The scent is definitely noticeable, but pleasant in my opinion. Some people think it smells like banana nut, myself personally, I smell more of the nut!

Moisturizing Stick

The last in the collection is the Moisturizing Stick ($32). It’s made of carnauba wax, candelilla wax and beeswax. It’s a very hard consistency, but once it warms from your hand, it becomes more of a balm. I find this a bit hard to use on my hands, but this is perfect for elbows and knees for sure. It’s such a small size and easy to take on the go.
