Review: Dermalogica Porescreen Sunscreen

Dermalogica porescreen

Hey there! It’s been awhile, but I felt inspired to write this post after literally repurchasing this sunscreen because I’ve been loving it so much. I haven’t been wearing makeup too often, but when I do, it’s old reliable favourites. I saw this Dermalogica Porescreen sunscreen on TikTok and wanted to try it. This was in the spring time? I’ve gone through a full tube this summer and this was very frequently the only face product I wore during this time. On to the review!

Overview:

A glowy sunscreen with skincare benefits.

Price:

$77 CAD (literal barf)

Rating:

4.5/5

Rambling Review:

Okay so let’s start off with the price. It’s literally insane. The fact that this is normal price $77 CAD is completely unreal. I’m very much aware of this and I’ve only ever bought it through a Sephora sale. Not that it doesn’t make it any less barf inducing, but it does help.

Okay now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, on to my thoughts. So the product itself is extremely watery with some colour/foundation beads throughout.

The reason that I’ve fallen in love with this, is that it’s perfect to wear on its own. After blended out, it gives an extremely glowy and even complexion. I went on vacation to Europe this summer during a heat wave and this is what I wore on my face each day. The coverage was exactly what I was looking for while still providing the protection I was looking for.

So here are some face swatches just to see what it looks like on the face.

Okay so on the left is bare face with serum and moisturizer. On the right is with the Porescreen on.

So you can see there is the slightest of white cast. For me, I honestly don’t notice this on a daily basis. This is a mineral sunscreen and the white cast can be an issue. I have previously used mineral sunscreens that make me look very very white, so this isn’t something I truly notice. It lists on the bottle to ensure you shake well. I notice if I ever forget to shake, the white cast is more prevalent. This to say, I can only judge and rate this on my skin tone and those with darker skin may or may not have more white cast issues.

So one of the other things I really love about this product is that it has niacinamide in it. So I know this is probably blasphemous to say, but I frequently go to sleep with this leftover on my skin. It in no way clogs my pores and on the contrary actually helps with the little bumps I have on my forehead. I notice actually my skin has been a lot clearer since using this which sounds completely wild when talking about a sunscreen product. I’ve truly never used anything like it.

So all this to say, even though the price tag is insane, I will continue to use and purchase this. It’s so easy to use in my literal no-makeup makeup look and would highly recommend it.
