First Impressions: Urban Decay Hydromaniac Tinted Glow Hydrator

I find myself always looking for new foundation as I feel like my skin is constantly in flux. In my later teens and earlier twenties, I found my skin impossibly oily. Now I’m definitely more combo-normal, and leaning dry in the winter. This new Urban Decay launch really intrigued me as they were marketing it to all skin types. With winter in full force, I thought I’d give it a try!

I’ll start with packaging! I actually really like the squeeze tube. That metallic gold and strong aquamarine is super appealing to the eyes. The cap twists off to reveal a small opening. I was a bit surprised by the size. It seems like more a concealer opening than foundation. But honestly, not a huge deal.

Now for application. I’ve used this a couple of different ways. The first time I used this, I had a very hydrating moisturizer on as a base and used my fingers. This was I think the worst application I had, with me not quite being able to blend in all the lines. I also felt that even after powdering, my face felt very slick.

The best way I found was using a more gel-like moisturizer and applying with a makeup sponge. I found that it blended very very well and gave a good finish.

It’s advertised as a medium coverage which I would definitely agree with.

Here are my before and after shots:

You can tell that it really did help to even out my skin tone. I got the shade 20 (Fair Neutral) and it matches me pretty well. In total, they have 12 shades. Not really the greatest, and considering it is a medium coverage and not light, I feel that there could definitely be more shades.

As a first impressions so far, I would say I enjoy but don’t love this. The one thing that I notice is that my face feels slick even after powdering. It’s funny, I’m not used to wearing power over foundation! It definitely feels like i’m wearing something on my face. With that being said, I really really like the look of this one. Natural, but put together. Definitely needed in these times!

Hope my First Impression was helpful!

Thanks so much for reading! Have a great day!
