Review: My Favourite Facial Oils

favourite facial oils

A skincare product I’ve started to use more and more has been facial oils. I feel like facial oils have really exploded in the last little while and I’ve collected a few that I really like. Recently, I’ve been using more skincare than makeup. This is just due to being inside with quarantine and not really feeling like doing a full face.

I used to wear my facial oils just at night, but lately have been using my facial oils during the day if I’m not wearing makeup. I have NOT had good success with wearing facial oils under makeup so I just don’t try. Another thing when first starting to use facial oils is thinking that my skin would get too ‘oily’. I don’t really mind this as my skin has been very very dehydrated. The extra hydration is always a good feeling, and when i’m wearing it at night, I don’t notice the texture at all.

Anyhoo, here are four of my favourite facials oils in my collection!

Kosmea Rose Hip Oil*

The Kosmea Rose Hip Oil is a really great and easily absorbed oil. I would say this is one of the most easily absorbed oil along with the Make This Universe custom oil. Its lightweight texture is one of the reasons I love it so much. The rose hip oil is extracted from the ‘hip’ of the rose which is the fruit that is left behind when the rose has bloomed with its petals dropped. This can be used for many different purposes supposedly, such as lessening the appearance of acne scars, pigmentation, sun damage and more. I haven’t been able to test these claims really, but I can say it’s an extremely comfortable oil to wear which makes my skin plump and happy!

Mary Kay Naturally Nourishing Oil*

Next up is the Mary Kay Naturally Nourishing Oil. I really love this oil. It has this really interesting scent. Very nutty, with a scent of almost bananas? Funny isn’t it? I talked about all of the items in the Naturally line here. This oil soaks in well, but I find it’s a more ‘oily’ feel. I don’t mind that at all, as it’s super nourishing. I find I turn to this oil when I’m feeling more dry. One thing to note about this oil is that the scent is  pretty noticeable. If you don’t think you’d like the scent, this might be one to think about. I personally don’t mind it at all!

Indie Lee Squalane Oil

So this Indie Lee Squalane Oil is the ultimate hydration. This is the most oily oil out of the four by far. I usually wear this one strictly at night just because it is so oily. But the hydration when I wake up the next day is so refreshing. I bought this oil through the Indie Lee Discovery Kit. I actually haven’t used this in awhile just since the seasons are changing. I would say if you really hate the feeling of oil sitting on your skin, out of the four I wouldn’t recommend this one. In general, for me I can feel that it’s a very high quality oil and just really like hydration it provides.

Make This Universe Custom Oil

Last but not least is my custom Make This Universe Facial Oil. I am in LOVE with this facial oil. This has been my go to facial oil when I choose one during the day. It’s no surprise probably that I love it so much because it’s customized to my skin concerns. The base is Squalane Oil with Black Cumin Seed. I noticed a difference with my skin immediately after the first use. The redness in my skin was reduced. I would say the only thing with this is that the Black Cumin Seed smells peppery. It’s not completely overwhelming, but totally noticeable. I was warned about it when purchasing, but it’s definitely good to keep in mind if you choose the Black Cumin Seed in your oil too!

And there we have it! Four facial oils that I have in my collection that I’ve been using quite a bit! Have you been using facial oils in your routine? Thanks for reading! Have a great day!
