Something I have been looking at for awhile is the Amika Polished Perfection Straightening Brush. I was so interested in this thinking it might be quicker to do my hair in the morning before work. There is always a constant battle in the mornings of doing my hair or makeup. Makeup wins always, so I end up rocking the bed head waves most days. I’ve had a bit of time to try this out so look forward to sharing my thoughts!

Rambling Review
This product is very highly rated on Sephora so I had high hopes! It’s a pretty simple tool with 3 buttons: Power, Increase Head and Decrease Heat. It has a LCD digital interface that either flashes “Off” when plugged in but not on, or the current heat when it’s on. This heats up really quick. Within I would say 30 seconds it’s fully ready. This goes up to 450 F, but I usually get it (and keep it to) 390 F. The first time I used this, I thought it was broken. It makes this disconcerting buzzing noise when it’s on. I googled this and other people seem to experience the same thing so I don’t think it’s broken!
The bristles themselves are quite thick. It’s recommended that you brush out any tangles before using. The size of the brush is pretty good considering I have pretty thick hair. The bristles are located pretty close together so I found I would have to position the brush to make sure my hair actually went through the bristles.
The things that I had to get used to the most was not just using this as a regular brush. I found the first couple of times I used this I went too fast brushing and it didn’t really do much. By going slower (similar to a straightener), I get the best results.
I made a mini demo video of me using it. Haha my first YouTube video. A bit of background to this, I couldn’t actually see the viewfinder because the camera was so far away from me. Oh well, hope you get the gist.
All in all, I like this hair tool, but I don’t think it would replace my straightener. I have a hard time straightening out my ends because there isn’t much leverage compared to a straightener. This is definitely easier to turn on in the morning if I just want to get out the door quickly to tame a bit of frizz. I would recommend this if it’s something that you think you might be interested in!
Thanks so much for reading! Have a great day!
