With it being Sephora Sale Season (you still have one day left for the sale! Code is HOLIDAYSAVE, expires Nov 11, 2019), I was going back and forth with the Huda Beauty Mercury Retrograde palette. I haven’t been buying makeup lately, one, because I’m adulting and paying bills and spoiling my cats, and two, there just haven’t been many releases that have excited me. At a time when consumers are getting more conscious of their consumption, it’s surprising that companies have been ramping up production of new releases like no one’s business. I took to Twitter to help me make a decision. It was close, but the Yays triumphed. I dumped some other things in my basket and went for this. I have to say, I’m in love so far.
It’s been awhile since I’ve been so enamoured with a palette. When I saw the release of this, I was just instantly drawn to the colours. I love the wearable glitters but also a very nice array of brights and mattes.
The packaging itself is very very pretty. It’s a plastic palette which is different than my other Huda Beauty Desert Dusk palette which is cardboard. You can tell from my picture above, the holographic rainbows shine very bright. Similar to the Desert Dusk it has a very generous mirror inside. This palette has 18 shadows in total with mattes, glitters, and shimmers.
Cosmic – Utopia – Ultraviolet – Nebula – Mercury – Haze
Off Balance – Galaxy – Libra – Crash – Momentum – Supermoon
Vortex – Hot Mess – Supernova – Karma – Gold Glitch – Frazzled
Now for pigmentation, I’m super impressed. I think every single shadow performs. Nebula (top, fourth from left), Supermoon (middle, last from left), and Gold Glitch (bottom, fifth from left) are those glitter pigment shadows that Huda Beauty has been known for. They perform really well on top of shadows, but also alone. While using them I used my fingers to apply as I noticed I got the most pigmentation. In my latest look I used Supermoon in my inner corner with small shader brush, and it picked up the glitter okay for the small area I was putting it on.
I’m also SUPER impressed with the quality of the mattes. Every single one of them would be perfect transition shades to deepen up a look or make it pop. You can definitely make a full fledged look from this one palette.
All in all, I’m super pleased with this purchase. It’s has a hefty price tag at $88, but I do think the quality is there to justify it.
Thanks so much for reading! I’m sure i’ll be posting looks with this palette in the next little while!
