Hello again! Today’s declutter post is on primer (face and eye) and setting powder. Often forgotten or just basic staples that no one really thinks about anymore, it was interesting for me to go through my collection. For primers I have a lot of samples while setting powders I found my tried and tested. Here’s what I kept and what I got rid of!
Primer (Face and Eye)
The photo above is what I kept which is pretty much everything. I have a lot of minis (most of those from Smashbox actually) with only a few full size. I really like my mini MAC Prep + Prime sample and would consider buying the full size. Another favourite is the Smashbox Photo Finish which is the classic silicon based primer which is my go to when I don’t want to think!
Eye primers last me FOREVER so I’ve been using the same couple for awhile. My favourite has been the Too Faced Shadow Insurance. I’ve had that mini sample for literally months! You really don’t need a lot to prime the eyes! I would definitely purchase the full size after this mini ends up kicking the bucket!
I only decided to get rid of one primer and that was The Estee Edit Pore Vanishing Stick*, This was from the ‘younger’ Estee Lauder brand that unfortunately didn’t stay around. I actually really liked this product, but it’s just old and I feel like I never used it.
Setting Powder
As mentioned, I have a few pretty beat up setting powders that I’m making my way through. I’m definitely keeping most of them. That one with major pan is the Sephora 8hr Mattifying Compact Foundation. I had bought this for my grad pictures actually (which is some time ago now), but I definitely have positive memories associated with it! I kept all of my loose setting powders because how else does one bake? (even though I never really go through the extra effort, it’s the diversity I crave!)
I have two setting powders that I got rid of. One was a mattifying one from Essence and the other was a Bare Minerals Sample. I never ended up using the Essence one and the Bare Minerals one was pretty much done! An easy choice to get rid of.
And there we have primers and setting powders. I didn’t really purge very much haha! But I never had a massive collection of these items either. I feel like I frequently skip both these steps so want to get in good makeup habits and use these categories more often!
Thanks for reading! Have a great day!
