Haul: Target Canada has e.l.f!

I read on Smart Canucks the other day that Target Canada has e.l.f now! Can I get a what whattt?

My friend and I hit up our local Target yesterday and lo and behold, they had it!

I wish I had gotten a better picture, but I was just so excited to see this!

For those that don’t know, e.l.f is an American makeup brand with the craziest prices ever ($1-$10 for most things). Back in the day, you used to be able to ship e.l.f to Canada semi-decently priced, but not any more. My friend and I were gonna make an order around Christmas time and the shipping was just insane. For $20 worth of product, we had to pay something like $20 worth of shipping. Um, no thanks.

The selection in Target isn’t as vast as on their website (as expected by me). Some people might be disappointed to see that Target isn’t carrying the $1 products and only the Studio Line things (more pricy items). This was fine with me though, because they had products I’ve been eying for a long time.

Everything I saw on the display was either $4 or $8, so not as great as the States, but I still think they’re a great price.

Here are the things I picked up:

1. e.l.f Eye Refresh

Price: $4 CAD
This is a roller ball tube that you use underneath your eyes to lessen the appearance of dark circles. I honestly don’t know how well (if at all) this will work, but I thought I would give it a try. I have pretty gnarly dark circles so anything that might help right?

2. e.l.f Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder

Price: $4 CAD
I finallllyyy got it. The most touted dupe for NARS Orgasam/ Laguna. I’ve never actually tried the Orgasam or Laguna duo, but this will probably be good enough for me. It has very fine glitter in it, which I wasn’t expecting, but it’s nothing over the top. I tried it today and already really love it!

3.  e.l.f Lip Exfoliator

Price: $4 CAD
This was something I’ve been looking to get for a very long time. I love the idea of it being in a lipstick tube so in my mind that means easier application. I’ve been looking to try some different lip scrubs for awhile, but the ones at Lush just seem over priced. Hopefully this one delivers, we shall see.

4. e.l.f Kabuki Face Brush

Price: $8 CAD
This was the only thing in my haul that was over $4. I have no idea why Kabuki brushes are always more expensive than other brushes. More hair I guess? But I actually don’t own a Kabuki brush so I thought I would give this one a try. I have all of the e.l.f studio line brushes so I think this will make a nice addition to those. πŸ™‚

5. e.l.f Blush in Tickled Pink

Price: $4 CAD
I was really drawn to this colour and I think a lot of other people were too because there were only a few left of these! A really soft pink with no sparkle. I’m excited to see how this will wear.

And there we have it! I’m super excited with everything I got. I’m so so glad e.l.f is in Canada now and even happier that I didn’t pay for that ridiculous shipping from the online store.

Thanks for reading, and hope you have a great day!

Haul: Higher End Products From Sephora

Hello hello!

I hope you are enjoying your day!

I thought I would share some things I bought from Sephora recently!
(Note, when I say recently, I mean a couple of weeks ago! I’ve had the chance to try out some of the products and should be putting up some reviews soon!)

1. NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer in Alaska

I went into Sephora looking for a tinted moisturizer for the winter. Since I’ve started working, I wanted to start using something a little lower maintenance than the Revlon Photoready. I thought a tinted moisturizer would be best for this. I was looking at this NARS one, and also the infamous Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer. I asked the girl at Sephora her opinion and this is what she gave me. Her rational was that you can layer this a lot easier than the Laura Mercier one.

2. Make Up For Ever Full Cover Concealer in 7

I actually went into Sephora looking to buy the NARS Creamy Concealer as I’ve heard good things about it. The girl at Sephora told me it probably wasn’t the best choice as it should be used for under the eye instead of zits (what I was planning to use it for). Instead she recommended this one. So far I’m loving it. I thought the colour would be way too dark, but it fits really nicely!

3. Ole Henriksen Truth to Go Wipes

Finally, this product I was debating for a while. I received a 12-pack of these wipes in one of the Ole Henriksen Black Friday deals and ended up loving them. I love the serum-y feeling of these makeup wipes, and I enjoyed the fresh orange scent. The only thing that was holding me back of course was the price. These are definitely a bit pricier than other makeup wipes I’ve used, but I decided to bite the bullet. So far I’m happy, but I’m planning to look for another drugstore brand once these run out.

I know in other blogger’s eyes this haul would be considered relatively small, but this is probably the most I’ve spent at Sephora ever! Anyways, enjoy your week and thanks for reading!

Haul: Shopper Drug Mart 20x Points

Hello!

Wow it’s been a while since I was able to put up a blog post. I’ve been pretty busy with school, work, and everything else to write posts, but I’ve had them in mind for a while. I have about three posts in the waiting, so here we go.

Shoppers Drug Mart (a drugstore in Canada) has a rewards program called Optimum where you earn points for every dollar spent in store and then redeem for discounts. Occasionally (actually like, every week) they have special point promotions such as the ever popular 20 x the points where they multiply your points earned in a transaction by 20.

Usually these points promotions are the times that I end up purchasing my hauls, just to build up my points. πŸ™‚ So here’s a haul of some stuff that I bought during one of these promotions.

1. Olay Fresh Effects: Bead Me Up! Exfoliating Cleanser

I bought this on a whim. I needed a new exfoliator, and I thought I would try this out. I looked up reviews on this after I bought it, and I’ve read mixed things. First impression is that it has a very strong scent, but I hope it will work out okay.

2. L’Oreal Elnett Hairspray – Unscented

With my TRESemme hairspray running low (and getting really tacky and sticky) I decided to try this one. Ingrid, my favourite YouTube beauty guru has recommended this one along with a friend, so I thought I would try it out.

3. John Frieda Frizz-Ease Hair Serum

I actually picked up two of these. This is a funny product as it’s one that doesn’t make my hair look amazing, but when I stop using it, my hair goes nuts. C’est la vie I suppose. I think they are repackaging this product, so it was on a really good deal.

4. CoverGirl Jumbo Gloss Balm in 240 and 216

216

240

This type of lip product has been hot on the market since summer: glossy balm lipsticks in a thick tube. I thought I would try these Cover Girl ones, just to see if the hype is real. πŸ™‚ The colour 240 is coming up a lot more orange on camera than I expected.

And there it is! A short but satisfying haul. :3 Until next time!

Haul: Sephora Boxing Day 2013

Hello!

Happy New Year! πŸ™‚

I was hoping to post this earlier, but I’ve been a combination of busy and lazy. Anyhoo, here are some things that I picked up from Sephora on Boxing Day (Dec 26th, equivalent of Black Friday in the Canada).

Everything was $12 CAD except the Gimme Brow ($26).

1. Caudalie Winter Moisture Kit (Link)

I’ve never tried anything from the Caudalie brand, but I know my friend that I was shopping with has used and liked their products. I’ve used the hand cream a couple of times, and i’m quite pleased. It soaked into my skin super quickly, and has a very mild scent. I’m excited to try out the rest.

2. Benefit Besties (Link)

This was one product that I sort of regret buying. I picked it up just because I saw the Benefit name without actually looking what it was. I’ve been using a sample size of That Gal and have really liked it, so at least I’ll get use out of that.. I didn’t know that there was a foundation in the shade ‘medium’ along with it…The shade is way too dark for my skin, but maybe I’ll be able to find a use for it? Here’s hoping.

3. Tarte Clean Slate Sampler (Link)

Seemed like a super cute sampler. I’ve started to look more into the Tarte brand, but it’s super expensive. The only thing I’ve used was the eye primer in the white bottle on the right. Eek, it was all liquidy and had seemed to separate. Even when I mixed it up, it still had a very water consistency. I did like that it left a nice shimmer though, but definitely unsure if I would purchase that one full size.

Excited to try out the face primers as I’ve been bouncing between a few lately. πŸ™‚

4. Benefit Gimme Brow (Link)

I bought this at full price because I knew that I wanted it. I was a little skeptical because I didn’t try it before buying (yuck at the testers in Sephora…) but so far I’m really really impressed. I wanted this product because I thought it would be like a brow filler and clear mascara in one. So far, it’s living up to these expectations! πŸ˜€

5. Ole Henriksen The Naked Truth (Link unavailable)

During my Sephora Black Friday haul, I picked up something from Ole Henriksen so I decided to try this as well. I’ve only tried these product once, and ugh, the cream! The serum it comes with was fine. Went on very smooth and I liked the feeling of it. Once I put the creme on top though I instantly regretted it. OMG the smell. I’m not sure if I just got a bad batch, but it smelled putrid. It was like orange with a butt load of chemicals. I’m scared to try it again. D:

And there we have it! Thanks for reading!

Haul: Sephora Black Friday

So last Friday, I was one of the suckers who woke up early to head straight to the mall. I can’t say I really regret it though!

I thought I would share the $12 deals I got from Sephora! (In the US it’s $10 deals I believe, but since I’m in Canada, we always get ripped off, haha).

1. OLE HENRIKSEN – Clean Sweep

This one I wasn’t sure about, but I ended up going for it. I’ve heard good things about the OLE HENRIKSEN brand and since the set was only $12, it seemed like a good deal.

The set comes with:
-Truth to Go Wipes
-African Red Tea Foaming Cleanser

2. Josie Maran Argan Hand Healers

Josie Maran is another brand I had heard of, but not actually tried anything from. The packaging was just so so cute.
Set comes with:
– Josie Maran Hand Cream in Vanilla Apricot
– Josie Maran BearNaked Nail Wipes

3. Stila Artful Eye Volume 1 Eyeshadow Palette

This was one thing I knew I was gonna get that day. The colours are so pretty! My Nexus 5 camera sort of washed out the colours, but you get the idea. All of them are a frost finish, no mattes.

4. Philosophy Purity Facial Cleanser

I’ve heard good things from this product, and brand, so another thing I thought I would pick up. This one is full size too, so I can’t wait to see how it cleanses.

5. Formula X Asap Real Nail Lacquer Duo Pack

These limited edition nail stickers were just too adorable to pass up. Even though my last nail sticker experience wasn’t perfect (read about it here), I just thought the designs were too nice!
Maybe I can try and get up a few reviews on some of these products.
All in all, Black Friday was a success for me! Got exactly what I wanted!
Thanks for reading!
