Review: Luna Nectar Moon Boost Lash Serum and Mars Sand Dry Shampoo

luna nectar

Hi there! Okay I have a review of two products I’ve been trying for awhile. Luna Nectar, a Canadian based and woman founded beauty company, sent two of their products. Their biggest product is their Moon Boost Lash and Brow Serum. I also wanted to try the Mars Sand Dry Shampoo! Here are my thoughts on both products!

About Luna Nectar

Mia, the founder of Luna Nectar, wanted to create a company that was 100% natural, vegan and cruelty free. They company was actually created after Mia saw her sister using a hormone based lash serum that would sting her eyes and irritate her skin. The ethos of the brand is sustainability (the bamboo tubes from Moon Boost are from a fair-trade manufacturer and cardboard boxes are from recycled papers).

They have products for hair, skin, and face!

Moon Boost

First up, I’ll talk about their hero product, the Moon Boost serum ($75). It comes in this little wooden tube with a little brush tip applicator. The product itself is slightly white in colour but mostly transparent I’d say. I wore this most consistently for about a month. I must say when I first started using this I would frequently forget to put it on. I’d finish my skincare and already be in bed before I remembered. They do recommend you wear it at night and also EACH night so you see results. Even with my flexibility in usage, I did see some results.

So there is slight differences but I think noticeable. My lashes aren’t much longer I’d say, but I do notice a bit more thickness at the lash line especially on my left eye in the picture. My lashes themselves are pretty thin and weak. I don’t wear mascara just because I find it gets everywhere, even with a waterproof formula. This before and after I’d say was about a month of on and off use.

I think it depends what you’re looking for. You’re not gonna get va-va-voom lashes like you would from extensions, mascara or falsies. But for a stronger, more nourished lash, this may be something to consider. The only very restrictive part of this I think is the price. $75 is a lot to spend on a 3 month supply bottle in my opinion.

Mars Sand

Next up is Mars Sand ($27). I was so intrigued with this dry shampoo because I had never used one in the powder format before. I remember when the Bumble and bumble one was really popular, but I never ended up trying that one.

So this one has me torn. So first up, I really really like this formula. I’ve used this on really really REALLY dirty hair days and it’s worked really well. It does need some time to really dissipate in my dark hair, but once it’s done, it really does suck up the oil.

The reason I’m torn with this is that I kind of hate the packaging. It seems like a cute little way to dispense the product but I notice that it doesn’t do it evenly. When I first used this I squeezed it to attempt to get product out and a WHOLE BUNCH ended right in my hair. When I’m talking a whole bunch, I mean like, double the amount that is in the product pic above. It was insane and I didn’t even know what to think at first. My whole top of my head was pink! After this, I’ve used it by shaking it out versus squeezing the bottle. I’m not sure if I squeezed it in a wrong way or something but I’m never risking that again! The only thing with shaking it is that I notice that I almost can’t get enough product! I can’t win!

In general though, I would recommend this product because it really does work!

Finally, Luna Nectar was kind enough to give me a 15% off coupon code if anyone wants to try anything. I’ve personally been looking at the Sphinx Body Oil and the Heliophilia Serum!

Coupon code is MELANIE15 for 15% off!

Thanks so much for reading! Have a great day!
