I always love to try new liquid brush tip liners. I feel more and more companies are coming out with brush tips compared to felt tips. I never understood the hype. I find felt tips uncomfortable, harder to use and I never get a solid line from them. The Kat Von D Tattoo Liner has been my ride or die for quite some time now, so when the Sephora Collection Hot Line Brush Tip Liquid Liner released, I was so interested in trying it. Do I have a new holy grail?

Rambling Review
As I mentioned, I really have a thing for brush tip liners. I’ve had hit or miss experiences with Sephora Collection items, so wasn’t sure how it would perform. When I first broke into this, I wasn’t impressed. The first two times I used this, the formulation was dried and I couldn’t get a pigmented line. I was debating returning it, but decided to push on.
I’m so glad I did because I love this liner. I’m not sure if it was just dried at the top, but I’ve been using this for a few months now and no issue.
It looks and works very similarly to the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner. There was some talk of this being a matte liquid liner (I think I heard this through Chelle from Makeup Your Mind, who heard it from someone else?), and I would agree to a certain extent. I find it dries down quite a bit, but I always still have a bit of a sheen. In Chelle’s review, she has some shots where she was able to get it pretty matte. My level of matte-ness always had a bit of sheen with it. This isn’t a do or die for me though, and I think it still looks pretty good.
I honestly love this liner. I have I think 3 open Kat Von D Tattoo liners (I lose them constantly, find them just as often…), but am definitely switching over to this one once I go through them all. This is about $10 cheaper and I think works almost exactly. I did a waterproof test and it really held up!
Initial Swatch (it doesn’t bleed, I was just sloppy drawing the line)
One swipe of a cotton pad with waterproof makeup remover!
I literally had to scrub my arm to get it fully off!
Something that I really like is that this liner doesn’t run. As you can see from the 2nd shot above, it more so fades. Not necessarily a good look either, but would much prefer this to running.
All in all, I’m super impressed by this. I was going to instead get the Too Faced brush tip liner, but so glad I picked this one up instead! Again, this one is about $10 cheaper, I’m always down for saving money!
Thanks so much for reading! Have a great day!
