I don’t even remember the last time I’ve bought something from Sephora. The releases just used to come and the wallet just used to be out. After buying the house though, I’ve just naturally stepped it down a bit. I will have to say though, I haven’t seen any launches that really excited me to push the boundaries of my finances. The Fenty Beauty Moroccan Spice Palette definitely has been the one thing to catch my eye in the last little bit. The flow of the colours just really got me excited. My boyfriend (with some strategic help) surprised me with the palette for our anniversary gift! I thought I’d show you some swatches and my first impressions of the palette.
Starting with the packaging, I love it. It’s one of the first things that really pulled me in. It’s edgy, but with the deep, smoke-plume design it gives it a softer look. The gem-stone edges make it look really classy too.
It’s a pretty neutral palette with a few pops, the strongest being the the aqua (Evil Genie) and the magenta (Saffron). It contains glitters, metallics and mattes. Colour-wise, I would definitely say that there is enough to put together a full look with transition shades, etc.
Now to dig into the swatches.
In general, I was somewhat disappointed with the mattes. To get the swatch to provide any sort of pigmentation I had to really dig in. In comparison, the metallics really worked great. Desert Baked, Mirage and Evil Genie were definitely giving me good vibes.
Using brushes to create an actual look provided better results with the mattes. I do admit that they blended pretty well. I found that using a denser brush to pick up the pigment helped a lot.
In general, my first impression is that I’m definitely happy to have the palette and enjoy the colours in this. It didn’t blow me away though. If you really like the colours in this, I would recommend checking it out.
I look forward to trying this more and seeing what looks I can create from it!
Thanks so much for reading! Have a great day!
