I’m not sure if I’ve ever addressed this in a blog post. So I’m just going to say it. I HATE mascara.
Before you try and stop me, hear me out. From when I first started wearing makeup, I tried mascara. It was a Cover Girl waterproof one and it made me look like a crazy raccoon girl in a matter of hours. I’ve tried a few other ones and they ALL provided the same result. I’ve chalked it up to my actual lashes. They are very very thin and point straight down. I do have a lash curler and I’m able to get a decent curl when I first use it. In a few hours, they end up just flopping down like sad little strings.
Funny enough, all of the mascaras featured in my picture above I was given for free/ did not purchase. Some of them are actually kinda old, I should probably throw them out. Oops, haha. I almost feel bad because I always think a mascara will be different and try it and just end up really disliking the results. I’ve just come to the point where if I get a mascara I will not use it so I can hopefully give it away.
This has been a really short post but you know when inspiration just comes to you? Yeah I was feeling that.
Are there any makeup products that you just don’t use for whatever reason? Or am I just a complete crazy person?
Thanks for reading, hope you are having an awesome day!

HATE MASCARA??? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!?!?
lol
(no but really)
it's pretty depressing, I know. ;_____;
I wish I had beautiful lashes like yours!! My little spider-leg lashes are mascara's worst (or best?!) enemy.
I kind of feel you. Half of my beauty blog posts I am not wearing mascara. It requires so much more effort to maintain throughout the day and having to take it off is annoying too! I never use brow products either lol 😛
I get you gurl. I rarely put on mascara since it's too high maintenance for me – it always seems to smudge and my eye lash curling skills aren't that great. Still, I do think it gives a noticeable result when I do use it but it looks kinda unnatural (because I'm all about the natural look lol). That's probably why I prefer tight lining nowadays.
Whuuuuut?! I cannot LIVE without mascara! I LOVE mascara! lol 🙂
My friend is totally like that. Mascara is her main makeup item I think! I'm obsessed with eyeliner and she's obsessed with mascara.
For sure. I've worn false lashes before and I looked pretty unnatural lol. But I've come to the realization that any sort of lash look will have to be done with falsies!
Yeah I've totally noticed that too. Wow and your brows look awesome! I've started to really get into brow products after seeing the difference.
The first mascara I ever bought was super wet and smudged on me within hours too, and TBH, it wasn't really until this year that I really started to love mascara and wear it more often (not everyday though…TOO MUCH WORK). Also, my eyes used to be unable to tolerate that stuff (they would get red by the end of the day) but I have to say, they are becoming really tolerant now.
AS FOR YOUR MASCARA DEBACLE…IDK MAN, IDK. Are all the mascaras you have waterproof? As for products I'm too lazy to fuss with–lipsticks, man. Lipsticks.
Blush is the big one for me. I have a lot of redness from acne and my birthmark on my cheeks so I don't want to add anymore, y'know? Also lipstick – as much as I ADORE lipstick and I always put it on in the morning, I can never be fussed to reapply throughout the day.
I am the same with blush Jodi! I had rosacea and spend so much time covering up the redness that once I put blush on it's like I'm adding the redness back! It's hard to find a shade that looks natural.
Oh nooo really? Maybe you just haven't found the right one! I have oily lids, so I really need to prime my lids and set my undereye concealer with a powder for my mascara to stay intact. I've found plenty of mascaras that hold the curl without smudging tho. A primer also really helps! Don't give up on mascara just yet! When a formula is new, you can easily get a sample. Try it out because you never know!
Oh wow! Yeah my eyes would never be irritated…just irritatingly smudged up. That's good! I'm really glad you're able to do it now!
The ones I have are not waterproof, no. Definitely if I bought them myself, I would have bought waterproof formula. I have tried waterproof as well and no-go. Yeah for sure on the lipstick. I can't be bothered touching up. So I usually look for ones that will stain my lips slightly so I don't look like a deranged clown by the end of the day.
Yes, re-applying lipstick is a no-go for me as well. I just can't be bothered.
Wow yeah that definitely seems counter-intuitive now that I think of it! You spend so much time and effort trying to even out your skin and then for what? *sigh*
Wow that must be hard Megan! Especially because adding more product I'm sure could irritate your skin as well, and we don't want that! I don't have rosacea, but I assume it could make your skin pretty sensitive to products attempting to cover it up!
It is possible, but I am losing hope. 🙁 It's so sad. Yeah I would say my eyelids are pretty oily too and I usually like to prime my eyes. I will definitely keep my eyes out for sample sizes! Thanks for the hope Sunny. 😉
Darn skin woes making everything more difficult when we just want to play with the pretty makeup! 😛
Have you ever heard of lash perming? An Asian friend of mine who also has straight lashes gets hers done and they look SO beautiful that way -no mascara needed! I've been contemplating trying them out since the lashes on ONE side of my eye is much straighter than the rest. ><
I've never been picky on eyebrow products though that's mainly because I have a pretty full set already. lol
I have actually never heard of that! I have heard of people on youtube getting semi-permanent extensions which look pretty nice. Just looking up the lash perming now. I think the issue with me is that I have literally no base to work with. If you cut off all my eyelashes, I don't think I would even notice. But who knows, maybe it would work out! 😮
Yes your eyebrows are lovely! Lucky that you don't need anything!
