Haul: Goodbye Sweet Target

*Purchased

Goodbye my lover. Goodbye my friend. *sheds a tear*

When I first heard about Target’s dissent from Canada, I was more than a little upset. I was actually devastated. As dramatic as that sounds, I honestly love Target to death. All of the different brands for clothing, makeup, and housewares (the list goes on) just kept me coming back. As much as this probably hurt Target, I always liked that it was not busy. I could do my shopping in peace without the Wal-Mart mania jostling me in every which way.

So when I heard that Target’s liquidation would be starting soon, I wanted to get out to the stores ASAP. I didn’t care about the liquidation sales, I just wanted to pick up what I wanted as soon as possible. I know I have said that I wanted to cut down on hauls, but I think this is an exception.

These might be some boring things, but here’s what I picked up (makeup wise).

1. Cotton Rounds

The main picture lies. I didn’t buy two packs of these. I bought eight. Excessive? Probably. So many people asked me why I bought so many of these. Wal-Mart, Shoppers, and more have these as well for a similar price so why Target? It’s mostly nostalgia. I remember when I first started to use cotton pads, I picked these up from Target. Ever since then, I’ve just been using these. So I thought, heck, might as well clear out the store. :p I guess I’ll have to venture into Wal-mart to get cotton pads now…

2. Sonia Kashuk Eye Makeup Remover

So the main picture doesn’t lie for these, I really only bought two. ;D The first time I tried this was in the States. I was soooo impressed with this, especially for the price. Since coming to Canada, I never actually bought one of these from Target! I always had another eye makeup remover on the rotation. Since I won’t be able to get this anymore, I thought I would grab two.

3. Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm Trio

I had not been able to try anything from Pixi, so I thought I should grab something before Target goes sayonara. My friend had tried the clear one (tube on the left) and really really liked it. I have tried the bright pink and the clear one so far and I am impressed. Very good quality lip balm! The only issue I have is the price. For these three, it cost around $17! I thought that was mighty expensive.

And that’s what I managed to pick up from Target. I didn’t go crazy on the NYX or e.l.f stuff as I notice that a lot of stores are selling them now. I wanted to pick up stuff I wouldn’t be able to get here anymore.

Did you end up going to Target and pick up anything nice? Are you waiting for the liquidation sales? Are you sad to see Target go?

Thanks for reading and hope you have a wonderful day!

Empties: Starting the New Year

Hello!

On my blog to this point, I have not done a whole lot of Empties posts. I definitely have noticed this and I want to change this year!

In the past though, I have done a lot of Haul posts. One of my new year resolutions is to spend less and use up more of what I have. One of the reasons I cancelled my ipsy subscription is the amount of product I was receiving but not having enough time before the next shipment to use it.

I thought I would start off the year with an Empties post to get this shindig started.

Just a disclaimer. This is not a December empties or anything. This is like, months of empties lol. I don’t use of things very quickly.

1. Make Up For Ever Mist & Fix

Repurchase: Maybe

I thought I would try this after my Urban Decay All Nighter ran out. It was okay I guess. Didn’t notice anything amazing with my makeup, but it wasn’t detrimental or anything. I know a lot of people don’t like the smell of this, but I liked it. ๐Ÿ™‚

2. Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Make Up Remover

Repurchase: No

I would definitely not repurchase this. I’ve heard really good things about it, and it worked pretty well, but I found it super duper oily (ironically). The price is good, but there are other good ones for this price too which work just as well.

3. Ole Henriksen Oil Free Pore Refining Makeup Wipes

Repurchase: Maybe

I really liked these wipes actually, but of course the price is a bit of a down side.  I liked these wipes because one side was a regular smooth wipe and the other side had exfoliating beads. The smell I thought was pretty nice too. They smell minty and eucalyptusy.

4. Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet

Repurchase: Maybe

This was from my 500 pt Caudalie perk from Sephora. I really liked this! It was more of a gel then a lotion which was interesting. It smoothly went on and it wore well throughout the day. The only thing I don’t think I’m cool with is the price….

5. Benefit Stay Don’t Stray Eye Primer

Repurchase: Maybe

I have a lot of ‘maybe’ repurchases! LOL. I got quite a lot of use out of this sample. I liked it because it was more of a concealer consistency than my Urban Decay primer. I did notice that some days it wore better than others, and if you put too much on it would get a bit cakey.

6. Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eyeliner

Repurchase: Yes

This eyeliner has a lot of hype, and I’m on that bandwagon. It’s just so easy to use. The only thing is the shiny look it gives after it dries. I usually like more a matte look, but for how good this eyeliner is, I’ll deal with it. I also do notice it smudges a bit onto the lower outter corner of my eyes but all of them do. I can’t fault this eyeliner for that.

7. Benefit Gimme Brow

Repurchase: Maybe

I quite liked this product. I always like time saving things and this one was definitely it. A brow gel and brow colour in one was great. This was my first brow product and it worked out pretty well. I’ve moved on to Anastassia Brow Wiz, so that’s the only reason why my repurchase is ‘maybe’. I’m loving the Brow Wiz and not sure if I will deviate.

8. Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes

Repurchase: Probably…

During my last empties, I noted that I didn’t like the smell of these. Still sort of don’t, but I’ve gotten used to it. I would say the Ole Henriksen one are definitely better quality but the price definitely denotes this. Even though I don’t love these, I think they are decent and will probably repurchase if I see them on sale. :p

So those are my Empties to start off the year. I look forward to doing more reviews and empties during 2015. I have so many great products that I’ve been dying to try out?

Anybody else trying to do a no-buy thing this year?

Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Eyeshadow Palette- Overview, Swatches, and Dilemma?!

*Purchased

I come to you today with a beautiful release from Tarte…and a dilemma!

I’ll get into the dilemma later in the post though. Today I’ll be talking about the new Tartelette Matte Eyeshadow palette by Tarte. I was able to get a hold of it before it was released on Sephora through the VIB/VIB Rouge early access. I was also able to use my VIB coupon (which I told myself I wouldn’t use, whoops) on this because it was over $50. I bought this online and even with the shipping, tax, and duty, it was less than if I had bought it in store.

I picked this up because I felt that it would fill a void in my makeup collection (how dramatic!). The only large palette I have is the Naked 3 (which I love!) but I don’t have many matte colours at all. When I saw this palette was being released, I just had to jump on it.

The case is gorgeous and substantial. It’s all chrome, which made it a bit hard to photograph.

There are 12 eyeshadows in the palette and all of them are matte. When swatching, each of them felt buttery and easy to blend. I’ve heard from other reviews that if you blend too much it can start to look muddy. I’ve personally only used this palette once so far, so I can’t really atest to those claims.

The photo above is taken with flash and I believe that most of these look pretty true to colour. The photo below is in natural light (where you can see my phone case in the mirror haha).

I know a lot of people had mixed opinions on the names. I personally really love the names of the colours. I think they are very positive and uplifting. ๐Ÿ™‚ One thing that hardcore ‘tartelettes’ mentioned about this palette is that Tarte did away with the plastic film with the names on it and instead printed them on the palette. This is my first tarte palette so I really didn’t notice the change. :p

Here are the swatches from the palette, from top left to bottom right:

Free Spirit – Force of Nature – Dreamer – Multi-Tasker
Caregiver – Natural Beauty – Best Friend – Bombshell
Super Mom – Wanderer – Power Player – Fashionista
This ain’t no Urban Decay Vice palette which is what I was looking for. All colours are very wearable and neutral. I would say you could make many many different looks with this one palette. One thing that I was surprised when I received this palette was the size. It’s about the size of a CD case. Here it is in comparison to my Naked 3:

So now the dilemma i’ve been facing. All in all I love the palette. They are all colours I would use thoroughly. The one thing that I noticed with this palette is the smell. I noticed it the first time I used it. The colours smell almost rotten if that makes sense. Just really really nasty. I was so disappointed when I found this out and haven’t used this palette since. :/ I have no idea if this is just the scent of the palette or if I just got a bad one.

The problem is that I can’t find this palette ANYWHERE. I’ve checked 3 Sephoras and no go. I’m hoping I can find one store even with a tester as I can’t even find one with that. Since this palette is so new, there are not many reviews out about it. All the ones I’ve seen though have not mentioned a nasty smell or a scent. What I’m planning to do is try my best to find one so I can see if they all smell like this or if I just got a bad one. If they are all like this, unfortunately that will be a deal breaker and I’ll return it. I’ll update this post when I can find out more!

It really sucks because I was looking forward to this palette and it’s gone unused. ๐Ÿ™ Hopefully I just got a bad one and can exchange it for another one.

Even with the few negative thoughts, I hope this post will be helpful to those looking for swatches and such. Thanks for reading! Hope you have an awesome day!

UPDATE: So after visiting / calling like, 6 Sephoras I FINALLY found one that had both a tester and new ones that I could exchange. When I smelt the sample, it didn’t smell at all. Unfortunately though, when I smelt the new one, it was the exact same smell as mine (aka nasty). The associate who was helping me said that since Tarte usually does all natural products, sometimes they can smell ‘off’. Another associate likened it to ‘new car smell’. Sadly it was still a deal breaker for me. It’s one of those things where once you know about it, you can’t go back. :/ From what I saw, I guess when you start to use it, it looses the scent. But I just couldn’t do it. :/ The palette wasn’t cheap, so why would I have something that I would continue to neurotically smell? I ended up returning it to get my money back. I’m planning on creating my own matte palette from Inglot so that should be fun. ๐Ÿ™‚

Haul: What I Got For Christmas

*Gift

Hi blog world! Happy New Year! Wishing everyone a safe and happy start to 2015!

With the new year, I thought I would add a few things to my blog. I signed up for an email address specifically for this blog which took some thinking. Having an email connected to this blog just makes it seem all the more real, this blogging thing. Unfortunately the exact name of my blog’s email was taken so I got iamnotabeautyguru. Close enough? Sort of….? I rejigged an About Me page and a Disclosure page as well.

On with the haul!

My friends and family were very generous with the beauty gifts (and non beauty gifts as well!). I can’t thank them enough!

1. Sephora Favourites Draw the Line

I can see myself using all of these right up! If there is one thing I love, it’s eyeliner. ๐Ÿ™‚ The brands included in this kit are Sephora, Marc Jacobs, NARS, Urban Decay, Stila and Kat Von D. I have only tried the Stila liner which makes this a great valued kit for me. Even so, the Stila liner in this kit is brown, so I’m curious to see how it compares to my black one. ๐Ÿ™‚

2. Sephora Favourites Cleansing Ritual to Go

These Sephora Favourite boxes are my absolute favourite. Like the liner one, I can see myself using every single one of these. I’m excited to try the First Aid Beauty Cleanser as I’ve heard amazing things about it.

3. EOS Lip Balm in Pomegranate Raspberry

Yum yum! EOS! I haven’t actually tried this scent and I’m really liking it so far! So easy to just throw in a purse and go!

4. Too Faced Melted Kisses Set

I’ve been wanting this kit for awhile, so I was happy to receive it! So far I have tried the 2nd and 3rd colour. The 2nd colour wasn’t quite right for my skin tone right out of the tube, but after a bit of blotting I was able to get it down to a nice nude. And the 3rd colour gave quite a punch! I love the feeling and pigmentation of these. They are easy to apply and have the cutest little bottles!

5. Anna Sui Nail Polish in 111

This is my first nail polish by Anna Sui. I’m very excited to try it. It’s hard to tell from my picture but the bottle is a little mannequin with the dress showing the nail polish. Is that the coolest packaging or what?! I would say this colour is very similar to Essie’s Mint Candy Apple but just slightly more green. Can’t wait to see how it wears. ๐Ÿ™‚

6. OPI Nail Set

As a stocking stuffer I got a cute little OPI Nail kit. Is the packaging adorable or what? The nail polish it comes with is a chrome colour, but no name. Very odd for OPI! I’ve never had one of the little bottles though, so maybe they don’t have names for those? Not too sure. The kit also came with a nail file and a hand cream. ๐Ÿ™‚

7. Sephora Gift Card

Last but not least, a Sephora gift card. Who can go wrong with these? With each gift card comes with a portable mirror. So good for on the go. I have enough of these mirrors to have one in every bag haha!

And that is my beauty related items that I got for Christmas. Hope everyone enjoyed their holiday season with their friends and family! ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for reading!

ipsy December 2014

Hi there!

Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season and had a great Christmas. ๐Ÿ™‚ I have a few posts I’ve been meaning to write up, but just have not had the chance. Also with the expansion of my Nintendo 3DS collection, sitting down to write a post has been hard. ;D

So finally, after saying again and again that I would cancel, I’ve finally done it! So I just wanted to clarify again, I did really quite like ipsy as a subscription service. I liked the amount of full sized or deluxe sample size products I received. I also liked the transparency and shipping of ipsy. I knew exactly when they would remove the money from my account and I also  never had trouble with shipping. All in all, if you want to try out a subscription service, I would recommend ipsy. ๐Ÿ™‚

The reason I decided to unsubscribe was the amount of stuff I feel like I’m accumulating! I want to use some stuff up instead of getting 5 samples a month that I just shove in my makeup holder.

So without further ado, here is my final ipsy bag (for now).

1. The Bag

When I saw this bag on the preview, I thought it would actually be a bit nicer. I don’t really like the satiny feel of it, but I do think this is a higher quality bag then some of the others I have gotten. The key chain on the zipper is cute. A little kid-ish, but I think I might put it on my keys or something. ;P

2. Beauty Without Cruelty A.H.A. 3% Facial Cleanser

Interesting cleanser. I’ve never heard of this brand (other than maybe beauty boxes?) but I’m definitely open to trying it. My skin is more dry-combination during the winter, so I hope this doesn’t suck the moisture out.

3.  CAILYN Cosmetics Just Mineral Eye Polish in Orchid

I beleive this is the only loose pigment eyeshadow I own. I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m glad it has the little applicator. I think one of the reasons why I steered clear from loose pigments is just the mess that it could potentially create. This little sponge nib should help out with this! Love the colour and the sparkles! New years look perhaps?

4. NYX Cosmetics Butter Lip Balm in Marshmallow

I was pretty surprised and disappointed to receive this. On the Glam Room preview, I expected to receive the red colour (Red Velvet). I would say this balm is okay but not outstanding. It has surprisingly good colour payoff for a balm, just not the colour I would really like. This type of nude just does not work with my skin tone. I actually look sick when wearing it alone. Also, if you have any flakes on your lips, the colour collects and just makes it look heinous. I’m planning to us this as a balm underneath other colours.

5. Sexy Hair 450ยฐ Blow Out Heat Defense Blow Dry Spray Mini

My very first thing from the Sexy Hair brand. As of now I haven’t tried it yet, but I am curious. I don’t actually blow dry my hair all that often, so I might try and substitute this for a heat protector when straightening/ curling my hair.

6. tarte deluxe lights, camera, lashesโ„ข 4-in-1 mascara

This is one of the things that everyone received from ipsy. I’m sure people were really quite happy with this as I hear it’s a good mascara (from a pretty well known brand) but I wasn’t so happy. :/ Can’t / won’t / don’t use mascara. End of story. This has been given away to a friend who I hope will get a lot more use out of it than I would!

And that concludes my last ipsy bag (for now). Maybe in the future I will re subscribe, but for now, I’m happy to use the products that I already have! Again, I hope you are having a great holiday season and wish you the very best in the new year! Thanks for reading!

Haul: Sephora Black Friday 2014

Well hello there. Hope you are having a great day! I thought I would do a quick post on some things I picked up at this year’s Sephora Black Friday sale. I bought all of these in-store as I just find it easier than staying up late and potentially not getting what I want. This is my third Black Friday pilgrimage and I’ve always gotten everything on my list. ๐Ÿ™‚

Not too much as I didn’t want to get out of hand. I also bought 2 of the Tarte packs to give away as gifts. Since those are already being wrapped up, I decided not to include them.

1. Origins Task Maskers

Price: $12 CAD

Funny story about this one. I was the 10th person in line before the Sephora in my area opened. Once everyone was let in, people just started grabbing things. Once things had sort of started to settle down, I noticed the last one of these sets was being grabbed. How disappointing. So I asked an associate who said she didn’t think there were any left. :/ Didn’t really believe her, but what can you do. I paid for my purchase and left. I noticed that the cashier hadn’t taken off my 10% off VIB welcome discount which I was saving for this purchase. As I was going back in, I noticed an associate refilling these, so I was able to get one. ๐Ÿ™‚ Worked out that I was able to use my 10% off and get all the things that I wanted. ๐Ÿ™‚

I have never tried anything from Origins before so I thought that this would be a good starter kit! Can’t wait to try it out!

2.  Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Sampler

Price: $12 CAD

I didn’t get this last year just cause I thought it was unbelievably expensive for these itty bitty hair things. I don’t usually buy special shampoos, so I was hesitant.  One of my friends bought this last year and ABSOLUTELY LOVED it. Like, loved it so much that she bought the full size. And that is a pretty penny to spend on shampoo! Wanted to see what all the hype was for and try it for myself!

3. Formula X The Two in Juju & Voodo

I was glad to have gotten these ones. I don’t have any Formula X polish and nothing in these colours either. I thought they would be a perfect addition to my collection and that blue will look so nice during this snowy and cold weather!

So there is my haul. I got exactly what I wanted and didn’t overspend at all. ๐Ÿ™‚ I can’t wait to try everything out!

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Urban Decay Sephora Perk – Mini Review and Swatches

Happy December everyone! I’m so happy that December is finally here even though that means exams. -_-; On the bright side though, I was able to crack into my advent calendars today!

So I thought I would do a post on the Urban Decay 500 point eyeshadow perk. When I first heard of this, I instantly knew I wanted it (along with everyone else I’m sure!). I picked this up the day of the VIB sale which meant Sephora was unbearably busy. I had already done my sale shopping in the morning so it was my second time in Sephora. The associate was super awesome and didn’t make me stand in the enormous line and just let me redeem my points. Without further ado, here is the palette:

So the perk comes with 4 eyeshadows, a liner, and a foil packet sample of their primer potion. I can see why this perk is so popular just because it comes with so much. I only own one of the Naked palettes (Naked 3) so I didn’t have too many UD dupes. I know some people were mentioning that if you have a lot/ all of the Naked palettes, it might not be the best because you’d probably have a lot of colours/ colours that are pretty close. I also have never tried the 24/7 glide on liners so personally for me I thought it would be good redemption.

I put the box in front of the mirror in the palette, but just imagine a mirror there…

Top: 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Zero
L-R: Skimp, Bust, Guilt, Oil Slick

The only colour that I could probably dupe in my Naked 3 is Guilt. It’s a rosy pink shade which is pretty much the whole Naked 3 palette.

I’ve used this once so far and I really like it! It didn’t show up too well in the swatch but Oilslick has a LOT of glitter in it so it’s a bit hard to wear I thought. Maybe I will try using it as a liner. ๐Ÿ™‚

Not sure if this is still available as I never actually saw it online. I’m so glad I picked this up when I could as it seems like a really good bang for your point buck.

Hope you have a wonderful day!

NARS Tech Fashion Lip Gloss Set: Mini Review and Swatches

Hi there! I should probably either be sleeping or studying or a combination of the two. Instead though, I thought I would do a blog post!

I recently got a completely awesome gift from my friend. The NARS Tech Fashion lip gloss set! I was definitely seeing stars when I saw it. *u* I don’t believe this is sold at Sephora which I was surprised about. You can get it from NARS counters though. They retail for about $40 bucks on the website. Seems steep, but not really for NARS I guess.

I thought I would do a mini review and a swatch set of these glosses.

L-R: Shade 1, Shade 2, Shade 3, Shade 4

The first funny thing I noticed were the completely unoriginal names. Cause you know, that really looks like a ‘shade 1’ sorta colour… Here are the descriptions on the NARS website:

Shade 1: Shimmering peach sorbet
Shade 2: Shimmering sheer fig
Shade 3: Shimmering sheer raspberry
Shade 4: Sheer ruby

I took 2 different pictures. Both are in natural light, but I think the first one came out truer to colour than the second one. I do think that the second one shows a bit clearer the different between Shade 1 and Shade 2.

I have only had these glosses for a bit so that’s why I didn’t want to do a full review. Shade 4 is my favourite of the set. Awesome pigmentation and looks so pretty on the lips with not as much glitter as the others. I would say that the colour in the tube is not the true colour on lips. That could be good and bad I guess. I’m glad that Shade 2 isn’t true to the tube though, as that would be way too brown!

Overall I think these are very good lip glosses. I noticed that for the lighter colours after fading for a couple hours, the colour would disappear but the glitter remained. It looks a little funky, but nothing a reapplication didn’t fix. Something else I really liked about these glosses was that they were very hydrating. I wouldn’t use them in place of a balm, but I think they do pretty well to soften the lips.

Anyhoo there we go! Hope you enjoyed it, have a great day!

My Blog Birthday: 1 Year of Blogging

Well I can’t believe I’ve done it! November 20th is I’m Not a Beauty Guru’s first birthday. In people years it would still be considered a babbling little baby, but for blog years I’m happy. ๐Ÿ™‚ My first post, Beginnings, can be found here.

This is going to be quite a chatty post, just a warning.

I’ve been thinking about this post for a very long time, and I’m so happy to be writing it. I’m proud that I was able to get to this point. I was one of those people that always started off writing journals with the best of intentions and then abandon them. This little blog I have kept up though, which I am happy and proud about. ๐Ÿ˜€

A notable thing I did this year was that I joined the CBB Network and was able to meet a lot more beauty bloggers. It was so nice being able to go on my bloglovin and get a constant stream of awesome content! ๐Ÿ™‚ Also through the network I was able to start great conversations with other beauty bloggers which I love! I find the network is one of the funnest and unexpected parts of my first year blog journey.

Now for some reflection. Why I started the blog, where I feel I am at, and where I hope to be in the future. I guess in all honesty, I really enjoy where I am at. I started this blog with the intention of it just being a beauty diary. A place for me to keep track of my purchases, if I liked or disliked something, and the works. I never thought I would join a network of blogs, or even set up a bloglovin page. I know many many blogs that have been able to ‘achieve’ much more than my blog was able to in a year or less. I know I have not been a constant poster, but I’m cool with that. I didn’t start this with intentions to try and become an internet celebrity or anything (quite the opposite). Even as I start to learn the ins and outs of beauty blogging, I’ve shied away from some aspects. I’m not saying I am not open to PR or promotions, but that has honestly never been a driving force behind my blog. I knew that I would only stick with this blog if I did it on my own terms.

This has been a hobby for me where I am able to produce something and look back on it. I am able to benchmark my progress and grow. But as any blogger I’m sure has experienced, it’s so easy to get caught up in the numbers game. Even recently I can remember going through my Analytics account fiendishly going through report after report trying to see how I felt my blog was doing, awaiting a comment on my newest post, or even just looking at the follower count on other bloglovin blogs I follow. This is so easy to do, but I think it can turn so destructive. I can’t lie and say that when I see my follower count decrease I don’t feel anything. As I’m sure many know, blogging is very personal and I can’t help but feel a little upset when I see that counter drop! I guess it’s how you deal with the situation and move on from it is what matters. This blog is my space and I’ve been running it how I want to run it. I remember first thinking at the beginning of my blog journey about making the blog private, but then at a spur of the moment, decided to make it public. I’ve been able to meet some great people through my blog though, and for that I am thankful.

So as I move into my second year of blogging (I hope it continues!), here are some things that I hope to keep in mind and goals:

  • I hope to continue to grow as a writer. This is a skill that I can improve on, and my blog enables this
  • Try my best not to get caught up in the numbers. Remind myself that I am doing this for me and nothing else
  • Continue and remember why I enjoy blogging. I hope that if I ever found that this blog was not what I hope it to be or is causing me any undue stress, I’d be strong enough to step back and even walk away
  • I also hope to continue to work on my photography and potentially editing. The picture on this post is the only photo I think I’ve ever edited on my blog. I hope I’ll have time to experiment more with editing.
  • Be as active (or unactive) as I wish. I know if I push myself to do something that I don’t want to do, it will just end up not done or done poorly
  • Maybe potentially re=design my blog with HTML/CSS. I’ve been dying to code my blog for so long, but I just find it so difficult. I’m in IT too, the shame…
  • Learn more about Google Analytics. I think it would be very interesting to actually understand these metrics, plus this seems like really good information to learn about
  • Remember to enjoy the ride!

Hopefully what I’ve said in this post is in no way controversial. This is honestly just a a personal post and applies to my blog experience!

For those that read my blog, I just want to give a sincere thank you. I love having active discussions about products and beauty items with others. ๐Ÿ™‚ I hope you are able to enjoy your time on my little slice of the internet.

So here’s to 1 year, and hopefully more in the future!

PS. I thought I would ask this at the end as well. Any tips for me going into my 2nd year of blogging? Any critiques of my blog? Thanks for reading! ๐Ÿ™‚

ipsy: November 2014

Hi hi! ๐Ÿ™‚

I felt like I got my bag pretty early this month which was nice! It always depends with ipsy. This month, I got the shipping email and then the same day I received my bag. Here is what I got in my November ipsy bag.

1. The Bag

I think this is one of my lest favourite bags from ipsy. ๐Ÿ™ I love sparkles, but it just feels a little cheap. I noticed that the plastic coating/covering was a little thin in some parts so sparkles were getting everywhere. ๐Ÿ™ I’ll probably donate/ give this away.

2. Be A Bombshell Cosmetics Eye Base in Submissive

I’m so happy with this one! The colour is awesome and very similar to Maybelline’s Colour Tattoo. To tell you the truth I think I will turn to this one more just because it’s so much more buttery and smooth. I will definitely be able to integrate this into my daily eye routine! ๐Ÿ™‚

3. clariSEA Sea Salt Solutions Instant Glow Powder Exfoliant

I’m very interested in trying this. I’ve never used anything like this where it is just the sea salt in a jar. It mentions that you can mix it in with your cleanser or just use it with water. Not sure how abrasive it will be, but even if it’s too much I can use it on my body I guess?

4. Marc Anthony Oil of Morocco Argan Oil Volume Shine Hairspray

This seems interesting. I’ve heard of the Marc Anthony brand and think it’s fairly high end? The only weird part I think is the fact that it’s an oil hairspray? When I think of that, I imagine just a slick backed mess. We’ll see though!

5. Nicole by OPI Nail Polish in Guys and Galaxies

So sparkly! *u* I like Nicole by OPI as much as the next girl. I’m curious to see if it will apply as just a sparkle overlay on a base colour or if I can wear it alone.

6. TEMPTU S/B Highlighter in Pink Pearl

When I look at mine and then see the product online mine looks a lot less pink. Weird! Yeah so this is a meh item. This was my ‘cult classic’ item that they were advertising. I would have loved to get the Glam Glow, but no dice. I don’t use highlighter all that much, but since this is supposed to be such a good brand I’ll definitely try it out.

And there is my bag! All in all, I enjoyed it. I think I will be able to get some serious use out of the eyeshadow base and exfoliant. I swear I’ve said this for how many months, but I think after the December bag I might cancel. I have been enjoying ipsy overall, but I just have so much stuff piling up. Probably after I cancel the bag after will be super amazing or something. I bet you that’s how ipsy keeps it’s subscribers…fear of missing out haha.

Thank you for reading! Hope you are having a wonderful day!
