Since I had to order my Sephora Beauty Insider birthday gift, I thought I would make the shop worth my while by also picking up a palette I was eyeing, the Anastasia Beverly Hills Prism palette. I know people might be a bit gun shy after the whole Subculture debacle, but I was never interested in the Subculture palette in the first place. The Prism palette in comparison really caught my eye and I decided to go for it.
First Impressions: MAC x Nicki Minaj Lipsticks
Hi folks! Today I have some initial thoughts and swatches of the two lipsticks from the MAC x Nicki Minaj collection that she designed herself. This collections also includes 18 nude lipsticks and 6 nude lipglasses but these are from the permanent MAC collection.
First Impressions: Kat Von D Everlasting Glimmer Veil
Hi folks! I have a quick first impression of the new Kat Von D Glimmer Veils which were recently released online at Sephora. These puppies aren’t in store yet and will be released at Sephora on September 8. At IMATS last weekend (recap and haul can be found here), I managed to get my hands on two of the colours Rocker (described as a copper with gold glimmer) and Razzle (magenta with pink glitter).
First Impressions: Lancome Matte Shaker
This is a bit of an unexpected post as I was planning just to use this on Instagram. On the weekend I redeemed some of my Shoppers Drug Mart Optimum Points for the new Lancome Matte Shaker in Pink Power. I’ve been hearing so many great things about this and was excited to finally give it a go!
First Impressions: Full Face of Foil Samples
Hi friends! Anyone else have an ever expanding collection of foil samples? Mine are definitely getting unruly, so I thought I would try something fun. I noticed that I had the right samples to do a full face, so I thought I would give it a try. When I use foil samples I usually use them one at a time (when I remember). This seemed like a good way to cut down on my samples but also try some new products all at once.
Event Recap: Inglot Aquastic Launch + Swatches
I recently had the privilege to attend a launch event at Inglot. If you’ve never heard of the brand you need to fix that ASAP. I discovered them in 2015 when they first opened up a store in Toronto. I wrote up a blog post at the time (apologies for the shoddy pictures) based on some of their eyeshadows! Definite loves!
The launch event was for their new Aquastic line of creme eyeshadows. I have minimal experience with creme eyeshadows, but I’m in LOVE with metallics so I was excited to check them out!
My Green Beauty Travel Picks
Hello friends! As some of you may know, I’ve been travelling up north for work. During the summer it wasn’t so bad, but during the winter?! Eek. Cold and snowy are an understatement. Even as we (somewhat) move into spring, they keep the hotel so DRY. Dry to the point I actually got a nosebleed and my skin was cracking. I recently received some samples from green beauty brands, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. Most products are moisturizing-focused, so I was able to let out sigh of relief! I have definitely tested these under some harsh conditions and wanted to share!
First Impression: Too Faced x Kat von D Better Together Palette
Too Faced and Kat Von D are both heavyweight brands in the beauty world. When I first heard that these two brands were doing a collaboration back in August, I was definitely intrigued. I would say I’m more familiar with the Kat Von D brand compared to Too Faced, but with the Sweet Peach Collection, I can definitely say I’ve dived right into the brand with no looking back!
The Better Together kit includes two separate palettes that can be combined with magnets in the spine including a full sized KVD Tattoo liner and Too Faced Better than Sex mascara. I took some time deciding if I was going to get this kit at $80 CAD. I finally caved because I’m a sucker for limited edition sets. Do I think it’s worth it though? Lets get on with the first impressions.
First Impressions: FaceOff Makeup Removing Cloth
If you know my makeup habits, you’ll know that I consider myself a makeup wipe connoisseur. I try any and all makeup wipes and end up using them as the main way to take off my makeup. I definitely know that makeup wipes aren’t the most effective way to remove makeup, but my laziness always seems to take precedent. I’m also fully away that using a wipe a day to just be thrown in the garbage is pretty wasteful.
I was recently approached to try the FaceOff Makeup Removing Cloth. A microfiber cloth that is supposed to take off your makeup with just warm water?! Sign me up!
First Impressions: Vichy Normaderm Acne Skin Care Line
*Sent for Review
My usual skincare routine is marginal at best. I am the first one to admit that I don’t take the best care of my skin. I totally understand the investment in skincare means a cleaner canvas for makeup, but I just find myself getting lazy. As I start to get older, I’ve noticed my skin has started to change slightly. I’ve been suffering from hyper pigmentation, and adult acne (if this is adulting I don’t want any part of it!). In comes the Vichy Normaderm skincare line for oily and acne prone skin. I received the collection containing a cleanser, toner, and moisturizer from the Chick Advisor Review Club. Lets get into the review!
