Hi folks! Hope everyone is having a great holiday season! I was recently sent a surprise package that contained the whole collection of the fairly new Hard Candy Glitteratzi Press and Play lip colours. When I first saw these floating around social media I was so curious about them. The lip colour applies matte but with a press of your lips, it’s supposed to turn to glitter. I’m all about glitter, especially during the holiday season, so I couldn’t wait to try these out. I have full swatches of all the colours too!
The Hard Candy Glitteratzi Press and Play lip colours come in seven bright and vibrant shades. There is only one semi nude shade and the rest are very bold which I love. Packaging-wise, I think they’re super cute. It has a clear plastic tube to show the colour with a studded ombre lid which really stands out in my collection.
When first applying these, I was impressed with how comfortable they are. They go on extremely pigmented and smooth. They make it very clear that you’re supposed to wait for the lip colour to dry before pressing your lips together. I heeded the advice, but the press of my lips had varying degrees of glitter success.
I noticed for almost all the shades, after pressing my lips together, the product picked up, creating patches. You can definitely see this in my swatch of Dazzle. I definitely waited for my lips to dry, but still had this occur. My lips are always dry and try and wear a balm underneath my lip products. This might be the cause of the patchy-ness of some of the colours.
I used these without a balm underneath, and still had a bit of lift, but not as much when my lips were fully moisturized. This is a bit of a double edged sword though…since my lips are like the Sahara Desert, would I prefer my lips to peel or get patchy? Tough to tell…
Something else you might be wondering is if this is a dupe for the Ciate Glitter Flips. At time, the Glitter Flips were one of the hottest things you were hearing about in the beauty world. Today, they are actually on sale. I do own one which I could compare to these Glitteratzi Press and Plays. I would not say that these would be a dupe for the Glitter Flips. As you could see in the swatches above, I wasn’t able to get a true glitter lip after pressing my lips together. With the Glitter Flips, you’re getting a true punchy GLITTER. The Glitteratzi Press and Plays are more of a metallic look.
With all that being said, I would say that I do enjoy these. I find it unfortunate that they were marketed as a glitter flip lip (I guess for the novelty of it). If these were marketed as a metallic lip, I would be head over heels. The pigmentation is unreal and the glitter (even without pressing) leaves a super pretty sheen on the lips. The formula is comfortable and I’ve worn Charm to multiple Christmas parties looking super fabulous. If you get past the novelty and don’t expect a Ciate Glitter Flip, I think these are worth having in your collection if you like any of the colours. For around $8 CAD for one of these, I think it’s worth the money.
Hope you were able to find this helpful if you were thinking of picking up one of these! Thanks so much for reading! Have a great day!
