I thought I would do something a bit different for today’s post. It’s funny how inanimate objects can hold such memories. I feel like makeup has a very special way of doing this based on wearing it for special events or for us beauty lovers, just having it in your collection at a certain time. I have five products that have a special story behind them. Hope this is a way for you to get to know me a bit better as well!
Tom Ford Lips and Boys Lipstick in Richard
I’ll start with a fairly easy one. This is the Tom Ford lipstick in the Lips and Boys collection in the colour Richard. Richard is my boyfriend’s name. We’ve been together 8 years and have known each other since high school. He’s my best bud and love him very much. When I saw this colour, I thought I had to have it. It’s such a perfect my lips but better with a slight tinge of colour. Still super natural, but adds some nice life to the lips. I love it!
MAC Eyeshadow in Naked Lunch
If anyone is an old school beauty YouTube watcher, you’ll know that this was the hottest colour around. You had beauty bloggers and YouTubers pushing it like crazy. It almost marks the simpler times of the beauty YouTube community I think. This was actually my first higher end makeup product ever. I remember kind of stumbling into MAC with no knowledge of anything. I still remember the salesperson asking if I wanted just the pan and had no idea what she meant! This is such a nice colour and still deserves love, but I’ve leaned towards deeper colours since getting into makeup!
LANEIGE Multiberry Yogurt Sleeping Mask
I have very fond memories of this LANEIGE sleeping mask when I used to travel a lot of work. I used to travel up north (during the winter) and it wasn’t pleasant for my skin. The hotel was the worst as the air was extremely dry. Dry to the point I would get nosebleeds. This was crucial for adding back moisture to my skin so it didn’t feel like it was flaking off! Travelling for work was definitely interesting, but glad I can use this under city weather conditions now!
OPI Meet Me on the Star Ferry
This nail polish was the colour I wore to prom. Prom wasn’t specifically special in any way, but I did find it a turning point for me. I had a pretty good high school experience. I was in lots of clubs at school and was active in the school community. I also had a couple of really key friends. Now looking back at that time around 10 years ago (omg), I didn’t really keep many of my high school friends or really a connection to my school at all. People change, and I’m very happy with my life, but it’s always interesting to look back at that certain time in your life.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Sun Dipped Glow Kit
The reason this one is barely used is because THE Anastasia Soaire, founder of ABH signed it. I met her while she was doing a tour in some Sephoras. This sounds absolutely ridiculous but I was completely star struck. When I saw her, I remember just loosing all words. My face was twitchy from smiling so much She was so put together and just extremely graceful. I have a full post on the experience here if you’re interested!
And there we have five makeup items that have nostalgic value to me. I would be totally interested if any bloggers were interested in using this for a post idea. If you do end up doing this, I would love to read it. I think makeup items can hold so much nostalgic value that is unique to you!
Thanks so much for reading! Hope you have a great day! 🙂
