Versus: Milk Makeup Holographic Stick and Wet n Wild Mega Glo Highlighting Stick

Hi there! My last post was about the new Wet n Wild Goth-o-Graphic collection. You can read all about my thoughts (along with swatches) there, but today I have a Versus post featuring one of the items from that collection. Right when I saw the Mega Glo Highlighting Stick in Hell-o Darkness* the first thing I thought was it looked EXACTLY like the Milk Makeup Holographic Stick in Supernova. So as one does, I have a full comparison of the two!

Packaging

Both products are packaged similarly with a twist up tube. The Milk one is a twist on cap, and the Wet n Wild one has a double pop off cap. The first long cap is removed to reveal a smaller cap right above the product.

The Milk one has 1 oz versus the Wet n Wild that has 0.35 oz. Milk actually has two sizes of the Supernova highlight, 1 oz (regular size pictured in my post) and a mini version with 0.25 oz. I’ll be comparing to the full size just because that’s what I have.

Price

I’m sure price is on people’s minds when thinking about these two products. Milk’s is $28 USD and Wet n Wild is $6.99 USD. Definitely a huge disparity! Per oz, the breakdown is Milk at $28 USD and Wet n Wild is around $19.97 USD. Still about a $10 difference! Not surprising between the two brands, but the question is how do they actually perform to each other?

Formula

Both are very similar in terms of how they feel, smooth, but not a true cream. This is very small, but I think the Wet n Wild feels a bit more creamy than the Milk one? This could be because I’ve had the Milk one for so much longer though, so I wouldn’t put too much stock into that.

Wear

Now to the fun part! How they actually compare on the skin. With just a straight swatch, they look very similar. The undertone of the Milk has a bit more of a sheen than the Wet n Wild one, but Wet n Wild is a bit more lilac. Otherwise, the colour is almost exactly the same.

Milk Makeup – Wet n Wild

I do notice a difference when incorporating into a look though. The Milk Makeup I notice has a brighter quality to it than the Wet n Wild:

This post was from last April (almost a year ago!) when I first got the Milk Makeup highlighter. It’s not super purple or anything but there is DEFINITELY an iridescent glow that can’t be beat. In comparison, the Wet n Wild one is more sheer with less of a shine:

My newer instagram post feature what the Wet n Wild highlight looks like. I know lighting is everything with highlighters, but I find Milk gives that extra OOMPH!!

Verdict

In general I think the new Wet n Wild highlight is nice and very close to the Milk one. I think the Milk one gives a bit of something extra, but enough for the additional $10 price tag? Perhaps not.

Thanks so much for reading! Have a great day!
