A Recap of 2017 and Looking Forward to 2018

Hello! It’s surprising to think that another year has come and gone. 2017 was a big year for me and I wanted to reflect on some of my favourite posts, accomplishments and then what I hope to continue to grow in 2018. I hope 2018 will continue to hold great things for myself and my blog!

Accomplishments

December Blog of the Month through Canadian Beauty Bloggers

One of my most recent accomplishments is being named blog of the month through the Canadian Beauty Bloggers. I joined the group when it was somewhat new and it’s exploded! The network will be 4 years old in January. If you’re a Canadian Beauty Blogger, I would highly recommend joining this group. I would honestly say the sense of community and the friends is one of the main reasons I continue to blog.

IMATS Press Pass

Another thing that was huge accomplishment for me was qualifying for an IMATS press pass. IMATS is a show held in some major cities around the world that cater to makeup artists, but also have discount makeup and tools for purchase at the show. I applied for a pass last year, but my numbers weren’t quite up to snuff. This year I was able to just squeak by, which I consider a win still! You can check out my IMATS overview post here!

Four Year Blog Birthday

Another thing I would consider an accomplishment is making it to 4 years blogging! There were bumps of inconsistency, sure, but in general, I think I kept up pretty well! This year was one of my strongest years blogging with publishing 70 posts this year. I know for some that might seem small, but I have made progression from my prior years!

Versus: ABH Modern Renaissance and Wet n Wild Color Icon Rose in the Air

This by far was one of my most popular posts this year. I was so lucky to get the chance to try the Wet n Wild palette early. I knew right when I saw it how close if not an exact a dupe it was! Definitely a great Versus post!

Drugstore Delights: Essence Matt Matt Matt Lipsticks + Swatches

I believe this was one of my first posts where I not only did arm swatches but also lip swatches. They take such a long time, but it creates such a nice pin-able image!

Goals

Looking towards the new year, there are a couple of things that I hope to grow in the new year:

1. Consistency – Obviously very easy to say, but hard to accomplish. I’ve switched jobs so I hope that I’ll be able to blog more and more. 2 or 3 times a week consistently would definitely be ideal!
2. Photography – I got a DSLR camera this year and have barely scratched the surface on its abilities. I should maybe try and take a course to really see what I can do with it.
3. Creativity – I find that something I need to get stronger in is more cohesive flatlays. I think I’ve gotten much better compared to where I first started, but always room for growth!
4. Instagram – We hate it. We love it. I need to break the 1k mark this year! I just gotta!!
