Hi folks! I have a quick first impression of the new Kat Von D Glimmer Veils which were recently released online at Sephora. These puppies aren’t in store yet and will be released at Sephora on September 8. At IMATS last weekend (recap and haul can be found here), I managed to get my hands on two of the colours Rocker (described as a copper with gold glimmer) and Razzle (magenta with pink glitter).
Packaging
The packaging on these is pretty simple. A shiny black tube with the words ‘Everlasting glimmer veil’ is clear so you can see the colour inside. I do like this concept, but I find it almost too plain. Maybe it was supposed to be a comparison to how bold the glittery lipstick inside is?
The doe foot applicator on this has a concave shape to more easily apply to the lips.
Application
This is where my trouble began with these. I found for both colours, Rocker and Razzle, I couldn’t get an even application. Sometimes a swipe would pack down more colour than others and this was hard to even out.
Razzle Swatch
Rocker Swatch
In my swatches above, you can definitely tell it’s patchy for Razzle. I can definitely attribute user error as I’m not a great lipstick applicator, but I think the patchy-ness is clear to see.
Colour
In comparison to swatches I have seen online, I don’t think the colours were represented accurately. Razzle is pretty close to swatches I’ve seen with a tingle more blue tone. Rocker is much different in my opinion. The swatches of Rocker are a coppery gold whereas the colour I was able to get is more of an orangey red gold. Still pretty, but just not what I was expecting.
Wearability
I can say with these that the pigment is strong and it lasts for quite some time. This isn’t really much of a feat with the amount of liquid lipsticks on the market nowadays, but still nice that you don’t have to touch up every moment of the day. These are comfortable on my dry lips and the formula seems to locks in moisture which is a huge plus for me.
In closing…
I’m not super happy with these. The colours are bright and vibrant, but I would recommend you swatch them (when they come into stores) so you can see the true colour. I can’t speak for the other colours, but Rocker especially seems different to me. The product applied patchy and uneven which is my biggest beef. I can attribute a bit to user error, but I still think this may be an issue for some.
I’ll be passing on the other colours in this collection. If you are interested, you can find them online at Sephora ($30 CAD)
Thanks for reading and I hope this was helpful if you’re thinking about the glimmer veils! Have a great day!

Thanks Shireen! The public needs to know. π
That pink shade is insanely pretty! Too bad about the patchiness, though.
I love it too!! Yeah the patchyness is a no go though. π
Oh no, such a shame that they applied patchy. I actually had no idea these were launching, but I definitely will be passing on these. Thanks for the review!

The colours are super pretty – I especially like Rocker on you. But yeah… the patchiness is no good – you can get better products for this look!
Gah, Rocker is such a cool shade!
They look so pretty on you, it is too bad about the inconstancy in the formula.
