Event Recap: My Day at CityLine

So I have a very special event recap for today! One week ago, my friend Leah and I had the pleasure of attending a CityLine taping! For those that don’t know, CityLine is a morning lifestyle talk show. The taping I got to attend was all thanks to Dave Lackie. He’s a beauty editor with a huge online presence. He recently had a Twitter contest to win tickets to a taping, specifically a Fashion Friday edition. During Fashion Friday the segments are all featured around beauty and fashion which is totally right up my alley. The morning was a super duper fun experience! They had a lot in store for us!

The morning started somewhat early at 9:30. Once getting to the studio we were escorted upstairs to a room where we could hang our coats and get something to eat. While waiting, I ran into some other Canadian Beauty Bloggers, Miranda from Miranda Loves and Steph from The Fantasia. It was so nice to see them and we ended up getting to sit together too! Before we were to head back down to the studio, we had a pep talk from some of the producers. They showed us a cute and funny video about the rules of being in the audience, and then we headed down to be seated!

As luck would have it, Leah, Miranda, Steph and I were seated in the front row! It was so awesome to see everything behind the scenes. We got to see all the segments and behind the scenes.

The first segment was fashion from Winners. I loved the outfits!

One of my favourite outfits of the day! I need to find a midi skirt!

I wish I could wear white pants as well as her!

INCREDIBLE Maxi dress. The audience loved this one!
After the first fashion segment, Dave Lackie took the stage! Dave actually did two segments. One on cosmetics and one for fragrance. He showcased some amazing products right in time for spring!

Dave doing his thing

Another segment which I thought was interesting was one on prom dresses! Wow, I don’t consider myself that that far removed from high school, but the styles look so hollywood glamour.

Soooo pretty. Wish I could have stunned like this at my prom!
Something else that was also totally awesome was the creator of the Tangle Teezer, Shaun, made a special appearance to showcase some great hairstyles and promote the release of the new Blow-Styling brush! They also elaborated that Shaun was rejected on the UK version of Dragon’s Den with the quote that the Tangle Teezer was “a hair brained idea”. You hear these stories all the time, but it just seems so sureal that he was able to make his brush a household name!
One of the funnest parts of the shoot was Mary who was our in-house entertainment, haha. She kept us on our feet and laughing in between takes.

Dance off!
The entire filming was around 2 hours. It went by super fast though and couldn’t believe it was coming to the end. Dave Lackie had mentioned this before, but we also go an AMAZING gift bag. In total, we received about $1000 worth of product! Like, WHAT?!?! That’s unreal!

An amazing collection of products for us to take home!
Also inside each bag was a hand written note from Dave! Just like his Twitter giveaways! How amazing!

Thanks so much Dave!

All in all it was a fantastic morning! I had so much fun with my friends and seeing some amazing fashion and beauty! This post is going up when the show is airing. I have it PVRed and I’m excited / nervous to see how much I made a fool of myself on TV.

Thanks so much for reading! Hope you are having a great day!

  1. DANG LUCKY GURL. (Both in terms of the swag bag and winning the tickets!) My mom and I actually have never been on Cityline, but we’ve been to tapings of Steven and Chris, and the Marilyn Denis show.

Ugh, I look terrible in midi skirts (short chubby legs) BUT I’M SURE YOU WOULD ~KILL~ IN WHITE PANTS πŸ˜€ And good lord, I was never that glamorous at prom either, LOL ;-; (terrifying flashbacks filled with dress and hair ragrets)

(Also, I c that new commenting system in place, haha. I think mine have gone fairly back to normal, butI am missing a few comments on my latest post :()

    1. Thanks! It was so much fun! Wow that still sounds amazing. I wish I could have seen a Steven and Chris show. πŸ™ It looks like such fun….:(

No way! You are not even that short! Eep white pants do scare me though. I read about a pair that Old Navy apparently sells that repel stains? I NEED.

Thanks! Yeah, I decided to go with the default WordPress commenting system. It’s hard to really tell if it’s okay or not haha. After spending literally days trying to work through disqus, I was getting no where. My comments did not port correctly to my new blog and my old blogger blog were missing all the comments. Its frustrating because I literally lost everything. At least it will be easier to back up these comments when in the native wordpress format…:/
